General Assembly & Church of the Firstborn,
Marianni, Haiti
In August of 1998 Bill and Barbara Whitworth were sent forth from General Assembly and Church of the Firstborn to minister the Gospel in Marianni, Haiti. While in Haiti they trained men and women to be leaders.
In 2004 Bill and Barbara returned home and left General Assembly & Church of the Firstborn in the caring hands of Brother Emile Samdy. The work of the mission continues and we desire that you would pray for Brother Samdy and the people of Haiti.
One of our main goals was to have a primary school. In Haiti, there is no public school system, so the only way for a child to receive an education is to attend a private school or one operated by missionaries. At this time, we have grades K - 6 with about 100 children in attendance. The children have Bible lessons, math, health and hygiene and learn to speak English..
We also have a school for training church pastors, leaders and workers, we call this the School of the Spirit. The people are trained in areas such as 1st Principles, Church Governmental Order, Kingdom Principles and so on. We have had tremendous interest from the people of Haiti.
VISION FOR THE FUTURE
1. School of the Spirit -
In this school we are training church pastors, leaders and workers in many areas that the Lord has instructed us. Such as 1st Principles, Church Governmental Order, Kingdom Principles and so on. This school will enroll up to 40 brothers and sisters for three days a week for four hours per day. To complete the course will take 8-16 weeks.
2. Primary School -
Since there is no public school system in Haiti, the only ones who can get an education are the ones who can go to the private schools or a school started by missionaries.
It is almost impossible to believe, but for $100.00 (American currency) a year per child, we can pay for the materials, pay teachers and also pay someone to clean the school. These children attend school for 4 hours per day five days a week.
3. Evangelism -
It is our heart to spread the Good News of the Gospel of Jesus Christ to all of Haiti. Pastor Emile will be working with the national pastors to help in whatever areas are needed. We will be planning trips with teams from outside Haiti, coordinating this with those God connects us with, in Haiti, that the Lord connects us with, to hold seminars, church revivals and hopefully large crusades in some of the soccer stadiums or amphitheaters.
Primary School
$100.00 sends one child to school for a year!
Most Haitian Children do not get to attend school, unless they are blessed to get into a private school or one set up by missionaries.
First, pray for the children and the pastors that are trying to make a difference in an indifferent world.
Second, ask the Lord if He would have you support the mission financially. There are expenses for upkeep of the grounds and building and everyday living expenses.
Lastly, if you would like to travel to Haiti and be a part of a work team or evangelistic outreach, contact us to find out when the next group is going an the qualifications needed.
